Publication schedule
Starting in 2021, The Interpreter’s House will publish new issues twice a year. These will come out in April and October. All issues are published online and are free to read.
Submissions
The Interpreter’s House publishes new poetry. The editorial team welcome dare and rigour, work that destabilises cultural or stylistic classification and boundaries. We want to read writing that surprises us; writing that makes us sit up straight and think. Before submitting to us, do take some time to read our existing issues.
We do not publish AI-generated content. Do not send it to us.
Please read the following with care:
Submission windows for October issues are open 1 April – 14 May inclusive. Submission windows for April issues are open 1 October – 14 November inclusive.
Poetry: please send up to 5 poems in a word doc. and a 12pt. standard font. If you are concerned about formatting, please attach a PDF in addition. Poetry submissions should be addressed to Louise and Jo.
The Interpreter’s House no longer accepts fiction submissions.
All submitted work should be unpublished at the time of sending. If your submission is accepted by another journal before we have replied to you, please take a moment to send a quick email to let us know.
We would especially like to read work from LGBTQ+, poets of colour, and disabled writers.
Submissions are to be sent to :
interpretershousesubmissions@gmail.com
We aim to respond within three months of the close of a submission window. If you have not heard after that time, please feel free to drop us an email.
We love for contributors to return, but also seek to keep the magazine diverse and fresh and open to new authors. Therefore we ask contributors to wait out two issues before sending work again. For example, if you were published in Issue 84, you would next be eligible to submit for Issue 87.
Reviews and essays: we are not seeking books for review or essays at this time.
