Ros Woolner

Grey

of zips and poppers, keys and nails
and little useful things
of lampposts, kerbstones, scaffolding
and structures built to last
of pigeons, woodlice, elephants,
thick-skinned survivors all
of rainclouds, gloaming, mirrors, smoke
of mists and mystery
of tractors, railings, bicycles
when showy colours peel
undyed, unpainted, unashamed,
the naked, steely truth.

Ros Woolner's poems have appeared in The Cannon's Mouth, ARTEMISpoetry and Under the Radar and in a number of anthologies. Her pamphlet On the Wing was published by Offa's Press in 2018.           www.roswooolner.co.uk
