Enta Geweorc

Get in the ancient hot tub, sexy friend!
Get in the old hot water. Loll with me—
there will come a time when
there is no one left to do this work—
get in the hot tub now while we still
have hot water; the human heart
overwhelmed and fitful, need not engage
the double disappearance of the past
and the past’s past—we will go for tapas
after! We will drink an Albariño
that tastes like green apples,
we will throw the moonlight over
our shoulders like salt.

Katherine Meehan lives in Reading. Her work has appeared at the Kenyon Review, Bath Magg, The Moth and others. Her first collection is forthcoming with Two Rivers Press.
